Spiritual Adoption Program

JesusCardTo help stop the anti-life push around the world, the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child.  This is done by praying that the one particular but unknown child’s life be spared abortion and be allowed to continue to live. To help accomplish this, it was recommended an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of nine months.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

– Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
During your earthly life this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God, but in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet the child whose life was spared by your prayers!
Your prayers CAN make a difference between whether a baby will be born…or aborted. Our prayers can also be a form of spiritual support for both of the parents. Please share the love of life given to you by the Lord of all life and join in spiritually adopting a baby.
Wednesday, March 25th marks the start of our Spiritual Adoption Program. You can still participate throughout the nine months: get a prayer card (at our ministry table after Masses each month at participating parishes), name your “spiritual baby,” and say the daily prayer for him/her the reminder of the nine months. You will receive monthly emails with your baby’s development. Participating parishes will also have a monthly display of a baby’s development. God willing, this baby will be spared from abortion and his/her mom will receive the joy of motherhood. We will celebrate this child’s delivery by having a baby shower on Dec. 26 at Our Lady of Guadalupe’s parish hall.
A special blessing for expecting mothers will be offered after the 7 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, March 25th  (Feast of the Annunciation) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  For more information, or to sign up after March 25th, contact us at ministry@witnesstolife.org.
