Governor Brown signs AB 154 and AB 980

Governor Brown has signed the AB 154 bill, which legalizes abortions by non-physicians, and AB 980, which reduces medical standards for abortion clinics. AB 154 (Atkins, D-San Diego) allows nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and physician assistants, who have taken an eight-week course, to provide first trimester aspiration abortions and to redefine those procedures as non-surgical.
